62-year-old woman tied to tree and burnt alive by sons in Tripura

AGARTALA: A 62-year-old woman was tied to a tree and allegedly set on fire by her two sons in West Tripura, officials said on Sunday.
The police have taken both sons into custody and believe a family dispute may have been the motive behind the brutal murder.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday night in Khamarbari under the Champaknagar police station area, is believed to have stemmed from a family dispute.
"After receiving an input that a woman was set on fire, a police team rushed there and found the burnt body tied to a tree. We took the body to the hospital for post-mortem examination,"said sub-divisional police officer of Jirania Kamal Krishna Koloi .
The two sons have been arrested in connection with the crime. "We have arrested her two sons for their alleged involvement in the case. They will be produced before the court on Monday, seeking police remand for interrogation. A family dispute may be the reason behind the incident," Koloi added.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the matter.

The woman, who had been living with her two sons after the death of her husband about a year and a half ago, was found by police after they received a tip-off.
