The New England Patriots’ defense got a major boost this offseason, with Milton Williams and Keion White coming together to create a formidable duo. As the Patriots aim to improve their defensive game, these two players are more than ready to make some noise. Williams, a defensive tackle recently signed by the Patriots, has been vocal about his excitement for the potential impact he and White can have on the field.

Milton Williams, a seasoned defensive tackle, sees a lot of himself in Keion White, the second-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft. During a recent appearance on the Green Light podcast, Williams shared his admiration for White’s work ethic and physical traits. Both players stand at over 6-foot-4 and weigh around 290 pounds, impressive size for defensive players, allowing them to dominate both on the edge and inside the line.
“Just how he carries himself, how he goes about his business, how he works... similar body type—6-foot-4, 6-foot-5, 280, 290 pounds. Fast, strong, got everything in the toolbox to really line up wherever, having the versatility to play inside or outside,” Williams explained. This shared ability to adapt to different roles on the defensive front is what sets them apart.
What makes this duo especially dangerous is their ability to wreak havoc from multiple spots on the field. Williams has always prided himself on being versatile, able to shift positions depending on the defensive strategy. White, similarly, has proven himself to be equally adaptable, as seen in his impressive performance in the 2024 season.
Williams couldn’t help but express his excitement for what’s to come if they end up on the same side of the defensive line. “If we end up on the same side, and we’re just going to go rush, it’s going to get nasty,” Williams said, eagerly anticipating the destruction they could cause together. That kind of attitude and energy is exactly what the Patriots' defense needs to take the next step in 2025.

Keion White's impressive 2024 season shows he's ready to step up, and with Williams, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with

In 2024, Keion White demonstrated his ability to disrupt offenses, recording 56 tackles and 5 sacks despite the Patriots being shorthanded due to injuries. White proved that, even without Williams and fellow defensive lineman Christian Barmore, he was more than capable of holding his own. With Williams now part of the team and Barmore returning after dealing with blood clots, the trio is expected to be a crucial part of the Patriots’ defensive plans for the 2025 season.
Mike Vrabel, the Patriots’ new head coach, will likely lean on this new defensive lineup to set the tone for a revamped defense. Williams, White, and Barmore are all capable of playing multiple roles, which will give Vrabel plenty of options to create pressure and confuse opposing offenses.
