The New York Knicks traveled to the city of Los Angeles for two consecutive games against the two LA teams. They faced off against the Lakers first on Thursday night, which turned out to be a pretty bad night for the Knicks. They not only lost the game, but their star player, Jalen Brunson, suffered an ankle injury during overtime, leading him to leave the court early. We are yet to have an update on the extent of his injuries but should know more soon, as the Knicks are set to face the Clippers next on Friday.

New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson suffers an ankle injury

Jalen Brunson suffered an ankle injury during the New York Knicks' overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. The injury occurred with 1:24 minutes left in overtime when Brunson was going for a driving double against Austin Reaves and landed awkwardly on his ankle, which visibly rolled. The Lakers won the game 113-109 against the Knicks, and now significant focus is on Brunson and what would end up being his final diagnosis.

Despite the obvious pain, Brunson stayed in the game to make two crucial free throws, giving him 39 points for the night. He then exited the game and headed for evaluation. The diagnosis is yet to be made official, but there's optimism that Brunson only sustained a sprained ankle. After the game, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said that Brunson was "being examined".

Jalen Brunson could miss the Los Angeles Clippers game

The injury is a significant concern for the Knicks, who rely heavily on Brunson's scoring and playmaking abilities. The team's next game is against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night, and Brunson will likely miss that game. Although they have a significant edge over other teams on the Eastern Conference table, losing Brunson for the rest of the season, if that happens, could be pretty damaging for the Knicks' title aspirations.

This is the Knicks' second consecutive loss after they lost a home game to Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors. Currently, after the two losses, the Knicks are the third seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Lakers are the second in the Western Conference table. An update on Brunson should be made public before the Clippers game, so we don't have to wait long to know about the extent of his injuries.
