Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee's upcoming play to open on International Women's Day

Interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee turns director for an English play in the city. The play titled "What I mean is...", is penned by Bangalore based playwright Swetanshu Bora. It focuses on the alarming rise of domestic violence in the country and its aftermath. Although the storyline is not anti-men but demands a share of equality which is the battle cry of the day and is being presented in collaboration with an organisation that has always stepped forward against gender violence. The play opens on February 8th to mark International Women's Day at a city venue.
"I have seen domestic abuse at home and honestly this play is a trigger in many ways. So, when I was offered to direct this, I was happy. It's an honour to work with a doyen like Sumit who imbibes theatre in you through simple life incidents. Sohag Sen, my mentor remains my inspiration always", signed off Sujoy who is travelling to Delhi next week to showcase HOME, a short that marks his directorial debut in cinema.
