Producer Vijay Kiragandur, known for delivering blockbuster hits such as the ‘KGF’ franchise, ‘Kantara,’ ‘Salaar,’ and more, shared official details about Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara 2’ and Yash’s ‘KGF: Chapter 3.’ Both films shone at the 70th National Film Awards recently, and Kiragandur updated fans about their release during a media interaction in New Delhi.
According to the producer, the much-anticipated prequel to ‘Kantara: Chapter 1,’ starring and directed by Rishab Shetty, is progressing well, with 30% of the filming already completed. The next filming schedule will commence in September, with a theatrical release expected by August 2025.
Set in Kundapura, the prequel will delve deeper into the story that captivated audiences worldwide in the first installment, promising to reveal more about the characters and themes that made the original a hit.
Kiragandur also spoke about the ‘KGF’ sequel, indicating that although work hasn't begun yet, more details will be revealed in the next four to five months. He expressed immense pride following the double victory at the National Film Awards, where ‘Kantara’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ received multiple accolades. Reflecting on their success, he highlighted the team's dedication and emphasized that ‘Kantara’ resonated with audiences due to its powerful portrayal of human-nature conflicts intertwined with divine elements, beyond just its commercial triumph.
He also discussed the mega success of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ at the box office, praising its action choreography as a key factor in elevating Kannada cinema to a national level. He acknowledged how both films earned a special place for the Kannada industry on a national stage.
