Usha Nadkarni recently won hearts with her scrumptious dishes in Celebrity MasterChef, the veteran actress now got candid about her journey in the culinary show in Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast. She even shared the behind the scenes moments and more.
Even with MasterChef, they called me and asked whether I could come to their office. During the conversation, they asked me who cooks at my place and I revealed that I do all the chores. Then they revealed that there is a show where they want to cast me. I agreed and told them that I don't know how to use oven and other gadgets. Bina istemal kiye mere ghar ka oven bigad gaya. I was very scared of using it.
I had made the first tart of my life in Celebrity MasterChef and it turned out so well. Ranveer sir was shocked seeing it. He then asked me to say honestly, and he praised it. I had made Puran Poli tart with blueberry compote.
Rajiv used to make really good desserts, especially cakes. Teju was also good with her dishes. Chandan was the last person who got cast for the show. Intially, he would stand alone, but then I called him and included him in the gang. Ghamandi nahi hai woh, I worked with him for the first time.
Archana used to irritate me a lot. She would keep nudging me. I remember, Rajiv was trying to make the sugar globe and Archana kept yelling his name, his globe broke so bad. He got so furious at her because it was a pressure test. She texted me when she got eliminated. I called her and told her that she had gotten saved twice, so this was going to happen.
We used to eat the dishes we cooked. I remember I made pooran and it was really good so I packed it home. There was something else also left so I fried it and took home. Chef Vikas spotted me doing it and said, 'Accha duinya ke liye?' So I told him, 'why should I waste?' He replied, 'yeh ki na maa wali baat.'
Rajiv and I used to come home together, they would drop me first and then Rajiv. He would get so frustrated and keep sharing that he wanted to quit the show. When I felt that I couldn't do it, I directly went to the makers and told them. But they pushed me to continue. Unlike Rajiv, who kept ranting about it, I chose to find a solution for myself.
