Rob Gronkowski just made a full-circle move that’s melting hearts across the NFL world. The Super Bowl champ and future Hall of Famer returned to Woodland Hills High School—the place where his football journey truly took off—and donated a whopping $200,000 through his foundation to give their outdated weight room a much-needed glow-up. The best part? U.S. Steel matched the donation, doubling it to $400,000, turning the school’s gym into a dream space for current and future student-athletes.
Rob Gronkowski remembers the “rusty and dirty” gym that fueled his early grind and wanted today’s kids to have better
This isn’t just about new equipment. It’s about legacy. It’s about Gronk honoring the very ground that shaped him. And when he showed up for the ribbon-cutting ceremony in full Gronk fashion—smiling, joking, and inspiring—it became more than just a donation. It was a love letter to his roots.
Gronk spent his senior year at Woodland Hills in 2006–07, after transferring from Buffalo. Even after going on to win four Super Bowls, appear in commercials, and become one of the biggest names in football, he never forgot where it all started. Speaking at the event, he said,
“It was dirty in here, and it was time for a new weight room. I remember I had rust on my hands when I was working out here.”That memory stuck. And now, almost two decades later, Gronk made sure the next generation wouldn’t have to train in those same conditions. The upgraded facility features state-of-the-art equipment from Gronk Fitness, a company founded by his dad, which specializes in building fitness centers across the country.
The new fitness center now serves all students not just athletes
The project was bigger than just Gronk. It was a collaborative effort between the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation, U.S. Steel, and State Senator Jay Costa, all working together to create something meaningful for the Woodland Hills community.

Rob Gronkowski may have left Woodland Hills years ago, but it clearly never left him. His donation wasn’t about PR—it was about purpose. About making sure the next generation gets access to opportunities that didn’t exist when he was grinding in that same gym.
