NBA Injury Update: How long is Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics rumored to be out of the game after Achilles injury?

Jayson Tatum's Achilles injury during Game 4 against the Knicks has sidelined him for the remainder of the postseason, a major blow to the Celtics who are trailing 3-1. The injury could keep Tatum out until mid-March of next season, potentially impacting the 2025-26 season.

The Boston Celtics easily defeated the Orlando Magic during the First round of the Playoffs to advance to the Conference semifinals. But it hasn't been the same easy sailing to overcome the New York Knicks in this round as the Celtics are trailing 3-1 after Game 4. Especially now that the team's star player, Jayson Tatum, has suffered an Achilles injury during Game 4 against the Knicks, leading to him missing out on the rest of the season. But what does this injury mean for the star in the long term? Let's find out.

What does the Achilles injury mean for Jayson Tatum's playing career?

Jayson Tatum went down after a non-contact injury late during the Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks game on Monday. The Celtics are trailing their opposition 3-1 after their loss to the Knicks during Game 4. He was wheeled down the tunnel after leaving the court as the player could not put any pressure on his injured leg. It was later revealed that the power forward suffered from an Achilles injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason.
The least amount of recovery time for an Achilles injury, which is an average of 10 months, would keep Jayson Tatum out of the court until almost the end of next season, not just this. Tatum would most likely be out until mid-March of next season, which will make him miss out on all but one month of the regular season. The 27-year-old was unable to stay composed and was seen in an emotionally vulnerable state while he was being wheeled out. Fans around the world are praying for his quick recovery.

Can this turn into a major obstruction for Jayson Tatum's career?

The good thing is, Jayson Tatum has the age factor on his side, and it's easy to recover from such a major injury at such an early age. NBA All-Star Kevin Durant, who also suffered from the same injury while he was with the Brooklyn Nets back in 2019, sat out the whole season after he went down. So it is quite likely that Tatum would have to do more or less the same for the upcoming season.
Hopefully, if his recovery time is less than usual, he will be able to join the 2025-26 season in the second half. But that all depends on his recovery, which everyone hopes to be a quick one. Many celebrities from the world of Basketball, as well as outside, have wished the player well. The Boston Celtics do not have a positive future with the Championship with how things are currently going for them in the postseason. And with Tatum out, it will be even harder to keep a positive tone, but fingers crossed, things will look better in the next season, and their star forward will be back with the team soon. Also Read: Jayson Tatum sustains non contact injury during Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks Game 4
