Tamannaah Bhatia reacts to her ‘Milky Beauty’ tag: 'That just sounds very strange to me'

Tamannaah Bhatia is busy promoting her forthcoming film 'Odela 2', a Telugu supernatural thriller directed by Ashok Teja. Ahead of its release, the actress has opened up about her career progression and how she has navigated public perceptions over the years. She addressed the widely known ‘Milky Beauty’ tag and made it clear she isn’t one to play the victim.
In a recent media interaction, Tamannaah was asked whether being recognised largely for her looks ever felt limiting; she replied, “I just do not like being in victim mode and saying I am not getting opportunities because I am so beautiful and all that. That just sounds very strange to me.”
The actress also highlighted the nature of the visual medium in which she works and how it demands certain aesthetics. She believes the constant striving of a star in the industry is to live up to such standards, but she firmly maintains that storytelling can be achieved in many different ways.
Reflecting on the popular label ‘Milky Beauty’, she explained that the nickname originated with her admirers. “It’s a very sweet title they used to address me. Later, the media picked it up and it became widely used. But it never confined my choices,” she added.
Directed by Ashok Teja, Odela 2 has already generated considerable buzz with its intense trailer. It features an ensemble cast including Hebah Patel, Vasishta N. Simha, Murali Sharma and Sharath Lohitashwa, among others. With music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, the film is slated for a multilingual release on April 17.
