BENGALURU: A man attempted to set himself on fire outside Raj Bhavan on Sunday afternoon, alleging harassment in a domestic violence case registered against him. He reportedly poured petrol on himself before being stopped by security personnel.
The man, identified as Zuhail Ahmed, a resident of Hebbal and an engineer by profession was quickly restrained by security personnel before he could ignite himself.
According to police, Ahmed poured petrol over himself while standing on the pavement outside the Governor’s residence and announced that he was ending his life.

“I wanted to file a complaint too, but the police are not listening to me. I have no choice but to end my life,” Ahmed told officers before the attempt.
The incident unfolded on the pavement near Raj Bhavan, where Ahmed doused himself with petrol and declared his intention to end his life. However, alert police personnel stationed nearby quickly intervened and prevented him from carrying out the act.
“He has been taken into custody for questioning. A medical examination will be conducted, and his family members have been informed and are currently with us,” said an investigating officer.
