Rain during Janaakrosha yatre a blessing from Rain God: Vijayendra
Shivamogga: Amidst the downpour, BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Saturday criticised the state govt's policies during the Janakrosha yatra in Shivamogga.
He highlighted increased electricity and diesel prices, govt employees' salary issues, and questioned allocation of Muslim reservations in contracts and projects. He accused the CM of disrespecting Hindus and misusing SC-ST development funds.
On the occasion, he interpreted the rain as a divine blessing from the rain god Varuna, emphasising their presence in Shivamogga to reveal Congress' shortcomings. He stressed that their protest stemmed from public discontent rather than power aspirations.
The Janaakrosha yatre faced disruption due to rain in Shivamogga. Nevertheless, the party maintained its resolve, considering Shivamogga's importance as a BJP stronghold.
BY Vijayendra's connection to the Shivamogga district drew activists from across the region. The attendance surpassed the previous Janaakrosha yatre number. The march commenced from Ramanna Shresthi Park at 4pm, ending near Gopi Circle. As leaders assembled on the platform, weather conditions deteriorated. Rain began during MLC DS Arun's opening remarks. MP BY Raghavendra urged participants to remain steadfast despite the rainfall.
Participants sought cover as the rain intensified. Notable attendees included MP Govinda Karajol, MLA Araga Jnanendra, former MLA Harthalu Halappa, amongst others. Former chief minister BS Yediyurappa was to participate in the event as a speaker but stayed away.
