New Delhi:
Delhi assembly speaker Vijender Gupta on Tuesday announced the unopposed election of members to three
financial panels of the house, including the
Committee on Public Accounts (PAC), which was tasked with examining several
CAG reports tabled by the
BJP govt during the inaugural and budget sessions.
The other two panels formed by the assembly included the Committee on Government Undertakings and the Committee on Estimates. All the panels have nine members each, including six from the BJP and three from AAP, informed Gupta.
The PAC comprises BJP MLAs Ajay Mahawar, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Kailash Gahlot, Raj Kumar Chauhan, Satish Upadhyay, and Shikha Rai. Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Atishi, along with Kuldeep Kumar and Virendra Singh Kadiyan, have been included in the panel as representatives of AAP.
The speaker already referred the comptroller and auditor general (CAG) reports on health, air pollution, and excise to the PAC for probe and commendations. The panel will also look into the auditor's reports on ‘Finance Accounts' and ‘Appropriation Accounts' for the years 2021-22 and 2022-23, which revealed non-submission of bills and utilisation certificates worth hundreds of crores of rupees. The four reports were tabled by chief minister Rekha Gupta in the house last week.
"The committee will immediately start working on these reports since it has to submit the scrutiny report and recommendations to the assembly within a given time frame," said a Delhi assembly official.
The CAG report on the performance of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will be examined by the Committee on Government Undertakings. The panel includes BJP legislators Deepak Chaudhary, Gajendra Dral, Anil Goyal, Kuldeep Solanki, Raj Karan Khatri, and Tilak Ram Khatri as its members, while Sanjeev Jha, Prem Chauhan, and Ajay Dutt will be members on the committee from AAP.
The Estimates Committee includes Gajendra Singh Yadav, Harish Khurana, Kulwant Rana, Poonam Sharma, Sanjay Goyal, and Sandeep Sehrawat from the BJP, and Imran Hussain, Som Dutt, and Vishesh Ravi from AAP.
